This is a Drug Fact sheet for a stomach relief medicine containing Bismuth subsalicylate, which is used to treat symptoms such as diarrhea, heartburn, nausea, and upset stomach. It is not recommended for children or teenagers who are recovering from chickenpox or flu-like symptoms as it may cause Reye's syndrome, a serious illness. The medicine is not to be taken if a person is allergic to salicylates or taking other salicylate products. The medicine should be taken as per the instructions. If darkening of the stool or tongue occurs, or symptoms such as hearing loss, ringing in ears, or deafness persist for more than 2 days, stop using the product, and consult a medical professional. In case of an overdose, contact Poison Control Center immediately.*
