Docosanol Cream is a non-prescription medicine used for cold sore/fever blister treatment to shorten healing time* and is for topical use only. This cream contains 10% Docosanol that helps to shorten the healing time of cold sores and the duration of symptoms including tingling, pain, itching, and burning. An estimated one-in-five Americans is affected by cold sores each year, and the cold sore virus can be reactivated by stress, sunlight, extreme hot or cold weather, colds and flu, lack of sleep, or menstruation. If used at the first sign of a cold sore, Docosanol Cream can be effective in shortening the healing time. The cream can be used five times a day until the cold sore is healed. Cosmetics such as lipstick can be applied over the cream using a separate applicator, but it is essential to avoid spreading the infection.*
