Potassium Citrate and Citric Acid Oral Solution USP is an effective and pleasant-tasting alkalizer for long-term maintenance of an alkaline urine when the administration of sodium salts is undesirable or contraindicated. Each 5 mL contains potassium citrate monohydrate (1100 mg) and citric acid monohydrate (4 mg) and is a sugar-free systemic alkalizer. It is suggested to consume 1-3 teaspoonfuls of the solution diluted with 1 glass of water, after meals and at bedtime, or as directed by a physician. The recommended dosage for pediatric patients is 1 to 3 teaspoonfuls diluted with 1/2 glass of water, after meals and at bedtime, or as directed by a physician. Store tightly closed at a controlled room temperature (20°-25°C) and protect from excessive heat or freezing. Shake well before using.
