This is a drug facts description for a Povidone-lodine 10% topical antiseptic microbicide solution used for healthcare antiseptic preparation prior to surgery or as a first aid antiseptic to help prevent infection in minor cuts, scrapes, and burns. It promptly kills germs in cuts, burns, scrapes, and minor skin wounds. The solution should not be used in eyes, on individuals who are allergic or sensitive to iodine, and should not be applied over large areas of the body or longer than one week. If irritation and redness develop and persist, medical attention should be sought. If swallowed, medical assistance should be pursued immediately. Directions for use are provided.
