ChloraPrep is a patient preoperative skin preparation kit, available in the form of swabstick applicators, containing 2% chlorhexidine gluconate and 70% isopropyl alcohol. It is a non-sterile solution and is recommended for use with care in premature infants or infants under 2 months of age due to the possibility of irritation or chemical burns. This product is not suitable for use on patients allergic to chlorhexidine gluconate or any other ingredient present in the ChloraPrep solution. The product is for professional use only, and users are advised to keep the solution out of eyes, ears, and mouth. If an allergic reaction occurs, rinsing with cold water is recommended, and medical help should be sought. The solution should be stored between 15-30 °C (56-86 °F) and the swabstick applicators are for single-use only.
