This is a description of an antiseptic and barrier wipe manufactured by Safetec of America. It is a premoistened towelette that is used for skin preparation prior to injection or venipuncture. It is flammable and should be kept away from fire or flame. It should not be used with electrocautery procedures or near the eyes. Inactive ingredients include water, PYMA/MA copolymer, ethyl alcohol, acetyl ributyl citrate, and chlororylenol. If irritation or redness develops and persists for more than 72 hours, a doctor should be consulted. If swallowed, medical help or contact with a Poison Control Center is recommended. Directions for use include starting at the venipuncture site and applying the wipe in a circular fashion while using additional wipes as necessary to cover the area.*

The Safetec Antiseptic/Barrier Wipes are designed for external use only to prepare the skin prior to injection or venipuncture. The active ingredient is isopropyl alcohol and the wipes are flammable, so caution is advised. The wipe is intended for a single-use, and the sterile towelette pack should be torn open and used in a circular motion on the injection site.
