Docosanol Cream is a non-prescription medicine that helps to shorten healing time and duration of symptoms of cold sores such as tingling, pain, itching, and burning. It is found to be more effective when applied at the very start of the cold sore, and it should be used five times a day until the cold sore is healed. Docosanol Cream contains 10% docosanol, which is unique to the product. It is recommended to remove any cosmetics before applying Docosanol Cream, and cosmetics such as lipstick may be applied over it using a separate applicator to avoid spreading the infection.*
