NDC 0273-7003-16 is a thixotropic gel that contains 1.23% w/w Fluoride ion (0.79% from Sodium Fluoride and 0.44% from Hydrogen Fluoride) in 8.1 Molar Phosphoric Acid. It is indicated for topical application to prevent dental caries. While using this product, it is important to keep it out of reach of children and not to swallow. In case of ingestion, milk, limewater, or antacid should be administered. This product should not be used on patients with a fluoride allergy. Repeated use may cause dulling of porcelain and ceramic restorations. Adverse reactions may occur in individuals hypersensitive to fluoride. After thorough prophylaxis, the gel is placed in an applicator tray (not more than 1/3 full) or applied with a swab. The patient should bite down slightly but firmly for one to four minutes, and any excess gel should be expectorated. The patient should not eat, drink or rinse for at least 30 minutes. The gel is supplied in a bottle containing up to 68 individual applications and can be stored at a controlled room temperature of 20°-25°C (68°-77°F).
